Walcott Is One Squillion Times Better Than Reyes

Arsenal 1 - 1 Aston Villa
_________________________

Not a great result, but not necessarily a bad one

I wasn't sure what to expect from this game.

There were a lot of unknowns.

How would Arsenal play on the bigger pitch? How would Villa react to the new stadium? Would the Villa players give 110% to try and stay in O'neil's team if he brings in new players? Is the Cole/Reyes nonsense affecting the spirit? Would the international games take their toll on the players? Would Arsene tell the players to take it easy because of the mid-week game? etc, etc, etc...

So in the end, I wasn't too disappointed with the result

Aston Villa came to defend, and not get battered, and they only just managed to do that.

There are a lot of players out, and there is a long way to go, so for me, the picture is more or less a positive one.

Another obvious positive was Walcott's performance.

He set up the goal and looked dangerous on the ball.

He's much better than Reyes already!

FACT: Reyes continuously gets disposessed and gives the ball away in attacking situations

FACT: Walcott apparently didn't lose the ball once on saturday

FACT: Reyes is desperate to go to Spain

FACT: Walcott is desperate to play with his hero Thierry Henry

If Walcott gets 15-20 games this season, I'm sure he'll end up with better stats than Reyes would get, even if he was to play every game in the whole season.

If you think I'm wrong, check the OPTA stats at the end of the season and prove it.

Anyway, the sooner the Cole deal gets sorted out, the quicker the squad can be finalised, and the players can focus properly.

There is just a slight feeling that the season hasn't really started yet, and until the transfer window closes I'm sure it'll stay that way.

Next up, Dinamo Zagreb

sell cole for about £19m and then whether we get Gallas or not is no big deal. we may get him in January or even next year on a free or not at all. I am not going to lose sleep over Gallas with JD and PS at the club. selling cole is the bigger priority.

Agree whole-heartedly that Walcott is better than Reyes. come on wenger give walcott games...

your facts are true but he's still only 17 and unknown whether he can keep this up...Arsene seems to give young players alot of time to adapt to premiership football...for example febregas playing for 2 years in and out. Ribery would be the replacement i'm sure should reyes had his dream move.....but thats not the case now. Dont you think he was stupid to extend his contract in june? had he known Real might come in for him?

Reyes was fine until Madrid came in and messed him up.

They made lots of noise about wanting to sign him, but apparently haven't even made a bid yet and now they've backed off.

He was happy and wanted to stay, but probably only because he thought that no big clubs in Spain wanted him.

But I have to admit that I was slightly suprised that he had signed such a long contract extension.

I can't see him ever signing another one.

you are an idiot and what a crapfans post - a propa fickle fan is what u r! already saying walcott is better than reyes after 1 sub appearance!! what a ***! YES walcott has the potential to be a world great but he ain't done nothing yet! no matter what people say reyes is one of the most direct players we have and yes he may lose the ball but he's not scared to run at people unlike others who just play a square ball! REYES can still be valuable to ARSENAL and if he gets it right will also be a great player whether that is with Arsenal or in spain we shall see but he is defnitely better than scarface and i would defo rather have him then ribena

Agree wholeheartedly with your mum, Reyes is still an excellent player in the squad. Correct me if I am wrong but in the Opta stats last season wasn't Reyes right up near the top when it came to assists?

It's pretty sad when people overreact to a 20 minute cameo against a very tired defense.

I can't see how anyone could say that Walcott is better when he hasn't really played except 20 minutes....

Walcott is a great prospect who can make a meaningful impact this season. Reyes is a great player already and should get better...and he's staying. We should be glad of both these things.

"'he didnt give the ball away once'"

actually he did he was on the ball and got tackled by a villa player...

also notice how poor our set peices really are without reyes(bar cesc's)

so many corners, free kick situations and could have taken advantage

remember when reyes made his home debut & scored 2 spectacular goals against chelsea? remember the hype? he's just another player being exploited by greedy agent. do you really believe real is his dream club? i remember he snubbed real to sign for us a few years ago! reyes is a very decent player, just lack of confidence at the moment. if all these negative comments continue, his would be more unsettled to the detriment of the whole team

and apparently we are gonna swap cole + 25 mil + 1/2 emirates stadium revenue for the next 50 years for gallas... dream on chelsea! i would rather we sell him to spain for 10 mil with a 50% sell-on clause. i wouldnt bother if gallas is coming or not

Reyes is awesome, he has the potential to become one of the best left wingers in the world, Walcott has potential every where in an attacking position. Reyes also gets us lots of assists, and look at his work in pre season he was great!!!!!!!! The only things wrong with reyes is that he cant speak english and that he has an obsession with going back to spain. This is probably because he was awesome there, maybe if we started backing him and he got into his stride he would want to stay and he and walcott could make the future at arsenal, and of course cesc, merida and arsenes awesome youngsters!!!! come on reyes

I seem to remember that Reyes' debut was a blinding 20-minute cameo.

In the words of Old Red Nose - Reyes is a *** great player and youse are all ***

There's no contradiction there you 'genius'

Yes, I like English players, and would prefer to see many more English players in an ENGLISH team.

I also like the english language, which is why I understand it a great deal better than you.

"some 15 y.o t blogger in overzealous "i miss english players" outburst."

More like... Someone who isn't blinded by the oh so foolish 'foriegn players are better because they're foriegn' desease, speaking some ACTUAL sense.
