Old Lady Gets A Good Beating At At Highbury

Arsenal against Juventus is a mismatch.

I read that somewhere...

Some other Arsenal website.

Apparently Arsenal were supposed to be played off the pitch last night by intelligent organisation and defensive brilliance.

Well in the end the game WAS a mismatch.

Arsenal completely played Juve off the park.

Vieira AND Emerson were both second best to Fabregas in the midlle of the pitch.

Henry was at his best.

REYES WAS WORLD CLASS!

...it's not long ago that I thought that I would never write those words...

Kolo Toure and Senderos had the beating of both Trezeguet and Ibrahimovic.

Capello openly admitted Toure's mastery over his stikers.

"We have had two or three occasions to shoot and it has been stopped by the fantastic Toure recovering, but the result is the right one for Arsenal.

Well said Fabio!

Such was Arsenals dominance, Lehmann hardly had to make a save.

There's a long way to go yet, but the obvious advantage is with the boys.

Arsene's young kids really showed their maturity in beating, and beating well, a side who most people (even certain Arsenal fans) were sure would win with ease.

Next up, Villa.

Thierry: Arsenal Not Good Enough

Another high scoring home win in this transitional season saw Charlton completely outplayed.

The press will probably love it if Curbishley becomes England manager, because they'd have so much to criticise him with after only a couple of defeats.

Even with Charlton's usual loss of form in the second half of the season, this was a display by Arsenal that was of Champions League quality.

Even without scoring, Thierry was in World player of the Year form.

The whole team played like an Arsenal of old. An Arsenal that would kill the game off by scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes and then toy with the opposition for the remaining 75.

But for me the performance that stood out the most was that of Fabregas.

Still only 18, he was able to dominate the midfield in a way you'd expect from a player 10 years his senior.

He's been the team's best midfielder by a long way this season, but it seems as though he's realised how well he can play after the Madrid game.

An extra boost was the return of Van Persie after a long injury.

It's great to see him back, and it looks like there will be some healthy competition for places as far as attacking positions are concerned.

spurs managed to beat birmingham to get back into fourth spot after the game, and it looks increasingly like the derby will be hyped up as the Champions League place decider before long.

So it was a good result a good game and a good performance all round, but don't mention that to Thierry who decided:

"I don't know about that because in the second half we forgot the basics of the game.

When you play football you have to pass the ball and try to put in the other guy who is in a better position rather than try to go on your own all the time. So the second half was pretty boring."

It's nice to see players not getting too carried away.

Next up, Portsmouth.

Pat On His Way Back As Arsenal Draw Juventus!

I had a big feeling this would happen!

Arsenal have drawn Juventus in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

So Vieira comes back to Highbury so soon after leaving to have a better chance of winning the Champions League.

Or at least I'm sure that that was one of the comments he's come out with since leaving.

Pat is playing such a massive part in Arsenal's season so far and unless he get's injured it looks like his part is set to grow.

So the question now is, who will have the last laugh?

Will Arsene be proven correct in his decision to sell Pat, or will he come to Highbury and prove his claim that moving to Juve was a big step up from Arsenal?

One thing that should be noted is that Juve have 10 other players on the pitch who you could say are not too bad.

But as far as I can remember, Arsenal have a good record in the Champions League against Italian teams, so it's looking like a tough game for both sides.

Juve are not likely to give Arsenal space and leave gaps at the back Like Madrid did, but they're not likely to HOOF it either.

What a draw indeed!!

POW!!... Arsenal Knock Real Out

My PC is BUSTED!

It used to work perfectly, and now it doesn't even boot up!!

Which is why I'm writing this from work.

Which is why I haven't made any posts for ages.

But I didn't need my PC to watch Arsenal knock Real Madrid out of the Champions League!

This summer Robinho said:

"Real Madrid are the best club in the world"

Good job you joined them then and not Arsenal then ain't it little robbie?

he, he...

So is this the end of the Galactico's?

Who cares!?

This looks like the beginning of the new Arsenal...

...If the away form in the Premiership improves, that is.

It was a glimpse of a future full of new records and new trophies.

with almost the whole first choice back four missing, the youngsters worked hard to stop the likes of Raul, Ronaldo, Zidane and Beckham from scoring.

The game was end to end action, Brilliant defending, midfield play and attacking was on show, with most of it coming from Arsenal.

Both teams hit the woodwork and both Lehmann and Casillas had to pull off big saves.

Knocking Madrid out has to be the best result of the season so far.

Not only do they have a big history in the competition, but all of the years of trying to tap up players as though Arsenal are some sort of feeder club have had their effect.

Both Robinho and Baptista snubbed Highbury claiming that Arsenal have nothing to offer,

and Guti's arrogant "I will leave Madrid and grace Arsenal with my presence" claim just summed their attitude up.

This result is a signal that Arsenal are not completely finished just yet.

They just have to work on winning at the likes of Middlesbrough and Bolton.

Anyway, it's back to work for me.

I'm currenlty waiting for a new processor to arrive in the post before I can fix my PC and get back to posting on a regular basis.

Next up, Liverpool.
